Handel's Messiah

St Mary's Church, Bloxham
Saturday, 11 December 2010 - 7:30pm

Often described as the most famous oratorio ever written, for some people it defines Christmas. Tradition suggests it was written in 24 days at Gopsall Hall, barely 50 miles north of Sibford.

If you know and love this glorious music, or even if you are a stranger to it, then do come and hear it performed by the Warriner Choral Society.

Refreshments available in the interval. Tickets £12 (concessions £8) from One Man Band in Banbury, Bloxham Post Office, Jenny on 721 224, or at the door.

Christmas Charity Football Match

Swalcliffe Park School Ground
Monday, 27 December 2010 - 11:00am

SIBFORD GENTLEMEN F.C. vs SWALCLIFFE COTTAGERS F.C.

Fancy walking off that Christmas & Boxing Day excess? Want a little fresh air to get your appetite for Sunday lunch? Like to support local charity? Want to watch a bunch of amateur footballers make a complete hash of it trying to play in the snow & frost?

If the answers to at least the first three above are "yes" or "maybe", then disregard number four (and treat it as a bonus) and turn out to watch your two local footballing giants battle it out for Seasonal Supremacy! Again!

Previous years' games have been great fun & very entertaining (see previous years’ reports on www.swalcliffevillage.co.uk) - let's hope this year will be similar

Team subs, comedy referee fines & kind donations from the spectators (with only minor tin-rattling) will be donated to local charities (Katharine House, Frank Wise & Swalcliffe Park Schools). Last year's total was over £300 & we'd like to get even more this year...it's up to you & your generosity so thank-you in advance!

Afterwards why not join your heroic players (& perhaps nab an autograph or two, or even buy them a pint?) for Chilli & other light refreshments with Helena & Cheal & Family at the Stag's Head, Swalcliffe
